Walker Appointed to Kansas Action for Children Board

Dale Walker, associate research professor at theJuniper Gardens Children’s Project and professor in the Department of Applied Behavioral Science, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Kansas Action for Children.

Founded in 1979, the statewide nonprofit, non-partisan organization works with lawmakers and citizens to shape health, education and economic policy to improve the lives of Kansas children and families. Successful efforts in the past have dealt with childcare licensing and regulation, newborn screening, immunizations and access to health care. The organization is guided by a volunteer board that includes medical, judicial and child advocacy professionals from across the state. 

Walker’s research deals with evidence-based naturalistic language practices for promoting the communication of infants and toddlers and intervention with childcare providers, teachers and parents to bridge the word gap. She is one of three LSI investigators who are directing a national network of experts in language and literacy development through the Bridging the Word Gap Network.
