A community conversation about building opportunities and bridging the word gap for children and families in Wyandotte County was held Jan. 22, 2019 at the Reardon Convention Center in Kansas City, Kan. The event, sponsored by the Juniper Gardens Children's Project, the KU Life Span Institute, Kansas Action for Children and the Children's Campus of Kansas City, featured the documentary No Small Matter and opened with remarks from U.S. Representative Sharice Davids. Wyandotte Health Foundation and Kansas City Kansas School Board member Randy Lopez, along with John Wilson of Kansas Action for Children, provided commentary at the event that brought together about 75 child advocacy, civic and social service partners, early educators, family advocates, health care providers, business leaders, researchers and parents to address issues emphasizing quality early education, economic, social and opportunity equity, to start a conversation about ways that Wyandotte County can align in 2020 to promote children and families.
