Biography

Lauren is a current Graduate Research Assistant at Juniper Gardens Children’s Project. Since 2019, her work at Juniper has focused on evaluating the efficacy of Check-in/Check-out, a Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support Tier II intervention, in Kansas City elementary schools through a grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, Honors Humanities, and Pre-Occupational Therapy from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2018, and she worked as a skills coach for a community mental health center before starting her graduate training at KU in 2019. As a counseling psychology PhD student at KU, her research interests center around religious/spiritual harm, including understanding factors of resilience and post-traumatic growth, and psychotherapy interventions for addressing these concerns.
